PEI 1010 has a tensile strength (yield) of 62 MPa (XZ Axis) and 42 MPa (ZX Axis). It has tensile modules of 2772 MPa (XZ Axis) and 2200 MPa (ZX Axis).
An amorphous, high-performance polymer called PEI has remarkable chemical resistance, superb dimensional stability, and exceptional thermal characteristics.
Uses Common to ULTEM 1010
Amorphous thermoplastic Ultem 1010 is very durable and heat resistant. Due to its special characteristics, it can be applied to many different situations. Applications specifically include:
- Aircraft components – Ultem 1010 is an ideal material for aircraft components due to its lightweight and superior strength.
- Medical applications – Ultem 1010 is often used in medical devices due to its low flammability, chemical resistance, and biocompatibility.
- Electrical/electronic components – Ultem 1010 is often used in electrical and electronic components due to its low electrical conductivity, low flammability, and superior strength.
- High-temperature applications – Ultem 1010 is highly resistant to high temperatures, making it a great choice for applications where temperatures exceed 200°C.
- Automotive components – Ultem 1010 is a popular choice for automotive components due to its high heat resistance, making it ideal for parts that are constantly exposed to high temperatures.
The strongest heat resistance, chemical resistance, and tensile strength of any FDM thermoplastic are provided by ULTEM 1010 material. This unique material’s pre-existing certifications make it an excellent choice for the commercial transportation industry, especially: aerospace, medical, marine, and ground vehicles. It is the only FDM material with an NSF 51 food-contact certification, and it is biocompatible with an ISO 10993/USP Class VI certification.
